If you want to take a fascinating peek back in time to see what life was like in Texas, the historic Fielder House offers a dramatic and picturesque scenario that paints a picture of what prominence and privilege can bring.

This home is not representative of the typical housing that the average person inhabited way back when, and the Fielder House has the distinction of being one of the earliest brick homes in Arlington. It also had electrical lighting, central heating, a hot-water system and indoor plumbing. This house museum is the centerpiece of a regal 215-acre estate, and visiting it gives you a snapshot of history and how surprisingly comfortable everyday life was for those with seemingly unlimited resources.

The Arlington Historical Society is where the past is a present to the future. The staff works hard to continue to preserve the history, stories and events that have gone to shape the Arlington of today. One of Arlington's most historically significant sites is the Knapp Heritage Park. Located in downtown Arlington, this structure offers a glimpse at pioneer life. The park consists of a one-room schoolhouse, a one-room cabin, a dog trot cabin and the Bardin barn. Be sure to look for the general store in James Knapp's law office, as it is a recognized landmark from the Arlington Preservation Society.

One of the most vital components of Arlington's identity is the fact that it is the home to the Texas Rangers baseball team. The Ranger's legacy of winning as well as their continued excellence on the field is preserved in the Hall of Fame Museum.

This impressive facility is housed within the Rangers Ball park and it offers a comprehensive look at the team's origins, triumphs, trials, and the people who played vital roles in the evolution of this highly regarded baseball team. The various exhibits include rare photos, memorabilia, team uniforms and audio and video presentations.
