One of Arlington's most popular annual events is the Cardboard Boat Regatta. Yes, that's real cardboard that all of these vessels are made out of, and the crowds show up in droves to see who will sink and who will stay afloat this time around.
It is sponsored by River Legacy Parks, and teams explore the characteristics of cardboard and the challenge it presents when constructed as a boat meant to stay afloat. And, thankfully, since not all cardboard boats float, there are plenty of rescue teams on hand for the event to safely return contestants back to shore.
Arlington's Holiday Lights Parade is a family favorite. The city officially illuminates its Christmas tree and the event provides lots of family activities and entertainment provided free of charge. The celebration includes live music, free carriage rides, face painting and even free photos with Santa. Grab your eggnog and warm coat and get ready for some holiday cheer, North Texas style!

Arlington's Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration takes place every January. There are plenty of activities planned at this festival, as well as live music, artwork from area students, and invited speakers that all pay homage to the life and mission of Dr. King. There is also an essay and artwork contest held in conjunction with the festivities.
The Trees and Tees Annual Golf Tournament is slated every spring and its goal is to raise funds to enhance awareness and expand education of the environment in the Arlington community.
The host of the event, the Tierra Verde Golf Club, is one of the area's most visible examples of environmental sensitivity, as the staff and management at the club utilize eco-friendly methods of maintaining the golf course. The tournament's ultimate goal is to underscore the ecological and economical benefits to maintaining a successful enterprise in a way that is good for our planet.
